You are restoring a wooden floors and want to achieve a rich, deep color while preserving the natural wood texture. You decide to use Mylands Nitrostains because they offer excellent application properties and do not raise the grain of the wood. After selecting the appropriate shade of Nitrostain, you apply it evenly over the wood using a cloth or brush.
The stain absorbs smoothly into the wood without swelling the grain, ensuring a professional, uniform finish.
However, because Nitrostains are not a finish on their own, you will need to apply a protective topcoat. For this project, you choose a water-based lacquer for its quick-drying and eco-friendly properties, sealing the color and providing durability.Other suitable topcoat options include cellulose lacquers for faster drying, pre-catalysed or acid-catalysed lacquers for more durability in high-use areas, or polyurethane (single or two-pack) for superior protection. You could also opt for shellac or wax finishes to give the wood a traditional, softer sheen.
For Furniture use: Waterbased, Cellulose, Pre- catalysed, Acid Catalysed, products or Polyurethane (single & two pack) lacquers; Shellac Waxes.
